Playful metalwork

June 1, 2019

Don't know the name of the artist but I understand local talent created this outstanding metal coat-hanging hook thing for kids at the library. Nice work!

Timberland Regional Library's "Expanded Access" trial run

Jan. 25, 2019

This keypad in front of the library is part of an upcoming trial run project called "Expanded Access" by Timberland Regional Library with McCleary being their sole laboratory. The idea is that library patrons will have access to the library from 7 am to 8 pm all week beyond the normal operating hours. There will be no library staff members present during the off hours.

This should be an interesting experiment in human nature.

The dog in the Library hallway

Looks like this was part of the original 2003 library mural project.

Dry pasta in front of the Library

June 27, 2017

First we find Fritos dumped on the Post Office floor, and now dry pasta in front of the Library?! Apparently peanut butter was also smeared on the door.

Library and Post Office

Oct. 29, 2012. An East County News distribution box between the Library and Post Office. Both buildings were constructed in the early 1960s. The library building was a laundromat and then a video store in the past.

A brick in front of the Library

Sept. 29, 2010.

Morty the Dog ran as a write-in candidate for McCleary Mayor in 1999 and gained, from what I understand, about 5% of the vote. Not bad for a cartoon character.

That weird sliver

The extra thin sliver of space between the Post Office and the Library, May 14, 2011.

The library building was originally a laundromat operated by the Daniel family. Later it was a video rental store for several years known as Olympic Video (later McCleary Video). Both of these buildings were constructed around the same time in the early 1960s.
